Rocky Horror Show Review I’ve lost count how many times I have seen Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show over the years but I never get tired of spending a wild and crazy night in transexual Transylvannia in the company of people wearing fish net tights all dying to get up and do the Time Warp! Last time Richard O’Brien’s legendary musical came to The Grand Opera House, Belfast was back in 2019 and we have been waiting with antic-ipation for it to return ever since. A really great cast have been put together for this tour with stand out performances from Stephen Webb, who commands the stage strutting about in his fish nets and heels as Frank N Furter. Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba does a great job as Brad and Hayley Flaherty is just a perfect Janet. I must also mention Suzy McAdam who is a brilliant Magenta and the very talented Lauren Ingram who really gets her chance to shine as Columbia during her solo scene. It was also great to see Kristian Lavercombe again who is really at home playing Riff Raff after notching up over 2000 performances so far! Over the years I have seen many people play the part of The Narrator including Christopher Biggins, Michael Aspel and Nicholas Parsons and I was once again looking forward to seeing Philip Franks back in that role but sadly he didn’t appear. Reece Budin took on the Narrator role and had some hilarious comebacks to the audience participation and some great up to date material including a very controversial Prince Andrew gag! Congratulations also must go to Director Christopher Luscombe for this amazing production that we all know tells the story of two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet. Their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion (that apparently reminded once audience member of Stormont) whilst on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet Dr Frank’n’Furter. It becomes an adventure they’ll never forget…and of course features all the timeless classics such as ‘Sweet Transvestite’, ‘Damn it Janet’, ‘Science Fiction/Double Feature’ and of course, the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp! I also really enjoyed Ore Oduba’s performance of ‘Once In A While’, a song I never really paid much attention to until now. The Rocky Horror Show got a well deserved standing ovation with everybody on their feet doing 'The Time Warp' and singing 'Sweet Transvestite' at the end of the show! Once again you can easily see why after touring the world for nearly fifty years, The Rocky Horror Show is still hugely popular! If you have seen the show before you will know what to expect and if you are a Rocky Horror virgin treat yourself to a great night out. The Rocky Horror Show runs at Grand Opera House, Belfast until Saturday. To try and get a ticket go to https://lnkd.in/dCp-UB6b
