I've been through RIFs before, and I narrowly missed on a couple of years ago. Many of my friends were caught in it, so I put together a series of articles to help them navigate the early part of the process. The job market is worse now than in 2024, but that only intensifies the necessity to be strategic about it and work hard. That said, I know one person who got an email from a recruiter within hours of posting that they would be available in the near future. I suspect that reputation and visibility are going to be more valuable than ever for those who are looking for their next position in this market. Unfortunately, those are things you really need to start building years before you need them.
