UMD students are turning AI into impact 💡 Meet the team behind a student-built chatbot tackling food insecurity—created by Smith’s Arden Lawson ’27, Amira Abujuma ’27, and Saurav Vidyadhara’25. Their AI-powered voice assistant for the Capital Area Food Bank helps users instantly find nearby food pantries, hours, delivery options, and additional resources like shelters—all in multiple languages, 24/7. After winning the university’s AI & Food Insecurity Case Competition (and $2,500 💰), the team is now bringing their solution to life as interns with the Food Bank.
