Congratulations to Smith’s Wedad Elmaghraby on being part of a groundbreaking interdisciplinary team awarded funding through the University of Maryland’s Grand Challenges Grants 2.0 program. The project, Sustainable and Ethical AI Infrastructure, brings together experts across engineering, public policy, agriculture and business to tackle one of today’s most pressing challenges: building AI systems that are both sustainable and responsible. The initiative is one of just 11 projects selected from nearly 80 proposals involving 400 researchers across the university.
