One of my favourite days of the year. Students from Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College returned to Leeds today to measure the HEMTs they fabricated during their cleanroom work experience earlier this year. Under the guidance of a University of Leeds of Leeds Master’s student, who has just completed a project on Fabrication of Enhanced-Mode HEMTs via Gate Recession, they characterised the devices and analysed the results. The highlight? One student achieved a 100% yield across their devices. That’s a remarkable result at any level, let alone for a sixth form student experiencing semiconductor fabrication for the first time. Sometimes we underestimate what young people can achieve when we give them the opportunity. #Semiconductors #Microelectronics #Cleanroom #STEM #EngineeringEducation #WorkExperience #UniversityOfLeeds #HEMT #FutureEngineers #SkillsForTheFuture
