The Ferrari F40 redefined by Michelotto. Delivered new to French motorsport figure Jean Sage in 1990, chassis 84642 was supplied as a highly desirable non-cat, non-adjust example via Charles Pozzi. Sage, former Renault Formula 1 Sporting Director and a key figure in Ferrari’s F40 IMSA programme, would later commission Michelotto in 1994 to transform the car to a CSAI GT-inspired specification, drawing on his experience within Ferrari’s competition world. The result was a road-legal F40 re-engineered with competition intent, developed by the same specialists behind the F40 LM programme. Lightweight construction, revised suspension and braking systems, and engine enhancements elevated its character while retaining its road usability. Used in period competition at Paul Ricard and maintained to a documented 22,699 km, chassis 84642 remains a truly unique example of Ferrari’s ultimate analogue supercar.
