👥 PhD Supervision Insights from Professor Sharath Sriram, Chief Scientist of Western Australia and Professor, School of Engineering, RMIT University As a supervisor in the RMIT-AcSIR Joint Research Program over many years, I have seen this partnership grow into a real strength for RMIT University and the researchers involved. It provides an opportunity to attract top-tier talent from leading research laboratories in India. With the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) being strongly research focused, we also work closely with highly experienced supervisors, which helps build long-term academic collaborations for RMIT. The partnership has brought together strong fundamental science, cutting-edge infrastructure, research translation expertise, and passion of the researchers involved to make a difference. This has resulted in tangible impact. At the heart of it are the students. They are consistently brilliant, passionate and highly motivated, making it both a privilege and a pleasure to work with them. The most rewarding aspect has been seeing their success after graduation, with many securing competitive fellowships and academic positions across nearly 20 countries. This has been a source of genuine pride. Overall, the RMIT-AcSIR Joint Research Program is strengthening the international presence of both RMIT and AcSIR, while building a strong global alumni network who continue to represent us as ambassadors around the world.
