🚦 AI export controls are becoming part of the frontier model story. Anthropic says the US government has lifted its export ban on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, only weeks after restricting access over national security concerns. The interesting part is not just that access is being restored. It is the conditions around it: ✅ Anthropic will proactively detect and address security risks ✅ It will collaborate with the government on future model releases ✅ It will alert authorities about malicious activity ✅ The Commerce Department can reconsider the decision if risks re-emerge This feels like an early signal of where AI governance is heading. Frontier AI will not be judged only by benchmark performance or product adoption. It will also be judged by how well providers can monitor misuse, manage jailbreak risk, and prove that safeguards work at scale. The next phase of the AI race may be less about “who has the most capable model?” and more about “who can safely keep the most capable model in market?” Source: BBC News #AI #AISafety #CyberSecurity #TechPolicy #Governance
