This year, I shifted my assessment approach to incorporate more frequent, low-stakes in-person assessments. To streamline organization, I gave each student a Blue Book to complete their weekly quizzes. Unexpectedly, nearly all students have submitted work with remarkably neat handwriting and excellent presentation. This experience reinforces my belief that high expectations often lead to improved performance, at least in terms of work presentation in this instance.
