I recently noticed a subtle shift in my Personal Finance with Algebra class: students started bringing rulers to lectures and even exams. This wasn't a geometry class, so I was initially surprised when a student asked to borrow one for sketching a linear function. Then it clicked. This year, I've been using my iPad's ruler function to draw precise straight lines during lectures. Without a single explicit instruction, my students observed and mimicked this behavior, adopting the same commitment to clarity in their own work. One student even bought a full geometry set just for this class! This experience has been incredibly uplifting. It's a testament to students taking their learning seriously, caring about the quality of their submissions, and showing a wonderful dedication to precision. It also reinforced a powerful lesson for me: our actions, no matter how small, can profoundly influence those we teach. Let's continue to model the best practices!
