I'm incredibly fortunate to work with intelligent, driven, and dedicated students. This year, I've had the privilege of collaborating with three outstanding individuals who share a passion for using mathematics to create impactful models. Genevieve Nolet has participated in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) for the past two years. For her capstone project, she ingeniously applied decision tree techniques to analyze factors influencing player performance shifts in tennis matches. A truly insightful application of mathematics! Izabela Lacki and Jeremiah Brown bravely tackled the complex issue of salary compression. To identify the presence of compression, they developed three distinct models utilizing linear regression, exponential growth, and average of difference percentages. Their comparative analysis of these models provided valuable insights into the most compressed salaries. As these students conclude their time at UWT, I wish them all the best as they embark on their next adventures. May they continue to find passion and fulfillment in applying mathematics to solve real-world problems. Best of luck! #AppliedStatistics #AppliedMathematics #UWT #StudentSuccess
