Starting later today, Vanguard will be able to run on-demand for players on the newest version of Windows 11. Our anti-cheat team has been cooking on this update for a while, and thanks to our friends on the XBOX OS Security Team at Microsoft, we’re finally able to leverage hardware-backed security to offer an improved player experience, without any additional cheating risk in our competitive games. It’s all optional, but these security settings allow us to trust the mechanisms that protect Windows at boot and defend the kernel from exploitation, without the need for the Vanguard driver’s early monitoring. We only want to defend the surfaces that we absolutely have to, so we’re delighted to let players pick which experience they’d prefer. Want to learn more about why this is possible today?
