Rough scaled. Weathered. Often misunderstood. But hidden beneath its hard exterior are entire worlds of colour, imagination and hope, built quietly by people who choose to honour their dreams. I recently stepped away from my calendar and into one of those worlds. I met artists, dreamers and craftspeople who are not simply making things with their hands. They are creating belonging. They are telling stories. They are restoring hope. And I was reminded that nations are not only built by economies and institutions. They are also built by creators, communities and the people who choose to support them. Sometimes magic isn't found in faraway places. Sometimes it's hidden in the heart of a dragon. The Heart of the Beast is a love letter to Johannesburg's creative spirit, and an invitation to slow down, look closer and support the people quietly colouring our collective story.
