This past week, I was in Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷 attending my first international conference, the JAWS (Journal Ahead Workshop), co-located with ICSE - International Conference on Software Engineering During the workshop, I presented our paper, “Understanding and Mitigating Library-Related Errors in LLM-Generated Code.” As LLMs become more central to software engineering, their struggle with external library dependencies remains a critical hurdle. We conducted an exploratory study to identify common library error patterns, their frequency, and proposed an agent-based approach to prevent and mitigate these issues. I was also honored to be voted by the workshop audience to deliver an extended presentation of our work the next day. It was a great opportunity to dive deeper into our methodology and results with such a knowledgeable group of researchers. A big thank you to my co-authors, Yacine Majdoub, Eya Ben Charrada, and Haifa Touati, and especially my supervisor, Ahmad Abdellatif , for his guidance, support, and for involving me in this project. This experience has been incredibly valuable, and I’m excited to continue exploring this space. Now that I’m back in Calgary, I’m definitely missing the Brazilian sun while I try to lock in for finals
