We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hanwha Group to support the adoption of advanced battery hybrid propulsion systems in the maritime sector, with a particular focus on the Ro‑Ro ferry segment. The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition to low‑emission vessels by enabling the shift from conventional internal combustion propulsion to hybrid battery solutions, both for newbuilds and through retrofitting of vessels already in service. By combining Hanwha’s hardware expertise with our regulatory and certification know‑how, the partnership seeks to deliver an integrated and compliant propulsion solution. Within the project, we will verify regulatory compliance and technical soundness for both classification and statutory certification purposes. Drawing on its extensive experience in the ferry sector, we will also contribute market insights to support the deployment of next‑generation propulsion solutions tailored to this segment.
