Women grow more than half of the world's food. They deserve to dream as high as the sky. Yet, too often, they are held back by the ground they stand on. Even when they manage farms of the same size as men, there’s a 24% gap in productivity. Not “because they are women”, but due to structural inequalities. We started asking women farmers across the different countries where Rikolto works: "What do you want for your daughter, or for the young women in your village?" on International Women’s Day. Throughout this #InternationalYearoftheWomanFarmer, we continue sharing their answers. We continue our journey in #LatinAmerica, with: 🌿Luciana Valdez, Member of ASOMURCHOQ in Ecuador 🌿Yolanda Romero, Member of the RAOS cooperative in Honduras 🌿Submi Granados, President of ACODIHUE in Guatemala 🌿Maricela Macavilca, Treasurer of Agroferias Campesinas, Peru Globally, closing the gender gap in agriculture could lift 45 million people out of food insecurity, according to the FAO. At Rikolto, we believe that when women farmers are free and sustained to reach for the sky, the whole world can become happier, with nutritious and sustainable food on their plates. #IWD2026 #WomenInAgriculture #genderequality #sustainableagriculture #sustainablefoodsystem #IYWF2026 #YearOfTheWomanFarmer
