Our Surgical Technology program hosted State Senator Sally Turner last week for a mock surgery to showcase the importance of the Operating Room Patient Safety Act. This act, which has passed the Illinois House and currently sits in the Senate, enforces educational and credentialing requirements for surgical technologists in the state of Illinois. Professor Brooke Oliver and the Illinois State Assembly of Surgical Technologists have been working tirelessly to create these minimum standards to make surgeries safer.
