Watching the World Cup ⚽️ and seeing adidas everywhere has me reflecting on my nearly 6 years at the brand with the three stripes. I get asked a lot about my time at adidas. Stuff like “What was it like navigating communications during the Kanye West crisis?” and “What’s your favorite sneaker or project you worked on?” But the two most common questions? “Could you help me get a discount?” 🤣 and “Is it UH-dee-diss or AH-dee-dahs?” ⁉️ The answer is that it depends on where you live, they’re both right and recognizable. In Europe and Germany, where the company was founded, it’s AH-dee-dahs. In the U.S., most people say UH-dee-diss. It’s like saying soccer versus football. Technically it’s AH-dee-dahs for founder Adolf Dassler, who went by Adi. Put his nickname and the start of his last name together and voila. ✨
