Everybody has AI. Nobody owns it. ⛓️‍💥 That's the actual problem. And it's creating a familiar mess. Sales reps building agents connected to Salesforce MCP. Dashboards published with the wrong bookings definition. Automations that run for a month and then quietly drift into irrelevance. Sound familiar? It should. RevOps lived through the dashboard graveyard. Now we've got the agent graveyard. Brandon Bussey, VP of RevOps at Advantive, came on #RevOpsAF to talk through what's actually working (and what isn't) when it comes to AI governance inside GTM teams. A few things that hit different from this one: → The fully decentralized AND fully centralized models both fail. One lacks governance. The other lacks context. The answer is somewhere in the middle. → He's hiring a "GTM AI Specialist" who rolls up into RevOps, not to build everything, but to own what gets built. Product manager energy for agents. → Build agents where people already work. An agent embedded in the tool a rep opens every morning gets used. One that requires navigating to a separate interface? Probably not. → Intentional friction is a feature. Requiring a business case before building an agent eliminates a huge share of low-value work before it consumes team capacity. → The AI SDR project? Didn't go as planned. Too ambitious, too monolithic. The pivot: smaller, specific agents that do one thing well and chain together. This is one of the more grounded conversations we've had on the AI + RevOps topic. No hype. Just a working operator describing what's breaking and how he's trying to fix it.
