Everyone’s calling their product an “AI agent.” Most of them are wrong. And the distinction matters more than people realize. Emir Atli (Co-founder & CRO, HockeyStack) joined Matthew Volm on #RevOpsAF and broke it down in a way that actually clicks: 🧠 Not all “AI” is the same. We’ve moved through stages: • Systems of record → store data • Workflows → automate steps • Copilots → assist humans • Task tools → do one job well 🤖 Agents are different. They don’t complete tasks. They take on entire work streams — with reasoning, judgment, and autonomy. Think about it: Closing a deal isn’t a task. It’s months of decisions. That’s the level agents operate at. And on the “AI will replace RevOps” narrative? It’s backwards. More AI → more pipeline → more complexity Less manual work → more need for strategy The operators who win won’t be managing fields. They’ll be setting direction.
