🎬 More than six months of construction in one minute: a new milestone for the Cerisea Project. Construction of our #HMF demo unit began in spring 2025 on the GIE OSIRIS ROUSSILLON platform. In just over six months, earthworks, foundations, the structural framework, and the installation of the first equipment have been completed on schedule. CERISEA continues the trajectory set at launch, supported by Michelin, ADEME, and the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). The unit will be Europe’s first facility dedicated to bio-based 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, targeting a production capacity of 3,000 tons per year. Bio-based 5-HMF, derived from plant sugars, is a key building block for the high-performance, formaldehyde-free thermoset resins developed by MICHELIN ResiCare - a direct alternative to conventional fossil-based solutions.
