This week, we marked an important milestone with the opening of our new organics transfer station at the Sonoma County Central Landfill. The facility will serve more than 185,000 homes and 50,000 businesses, processing approximately 20 tons of organic material per hour. By removing contamination from commercial food waste and converting depackaged material into renewable energy, the facility helps keep organic waste out of the landfill while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This project is the latest addition to our national network of 28 organics facilities, where we process more than 1.1 million tons of organic waste annually. Together with our partners, we’re continuing to scale solutions that deliver real environmental impact for the communities we serve.
