Efficient water transport in long-distance water infrastructure requires minimising any type of loss within the system. The La Palma I Main Canal (Barlovento – Fuencaliente) is the main water conveyance infrastructure on the island’s eastern side. Stretching 81.57 km, it uses gravity to channel water from the wetter northern areas to the areas with the highest water demand in the south. Along its route, the canal supplies multiple outlets linked to irrigation communities, which manage the final distribution of the resource. In this type of open system, the permeability of the substrate can lead to significant losses due to seepage, directly affecting overall hydraulic efficiency. To mitigate this effect, the canal has been waterproofed using the 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗢𝗥𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 𝟯𝟱𝟬𝟱𝟮 geomembrane, a solution that provides watertightness, durability and stable hydraulic performance under conditions of prolonged exposure. The result is more efficient conveyance, reducing water losses and improving the performance of the system as a whole. A key intervention in a strategic infrastructure for water management on La Palma. 👉 See more about the product: https://lnkd.in/dJu83umz #HydraulicEngineering #WaterManagement #Geomembranes #RENOLITALKORPLAN #LaPalma
