We’re looking for a highly experienced communications and public affairs professional to lead our Corporate Communications team. The Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager will drive the success of Renfrewshire’s ambitious plans for cultural, economic and social regeneration. The role will work on a wide range of projects, including the council’s ambitious capital investment programme, the Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal and the Fairer Renfrewshire programme, which supports those most in need. It will also lead on the delivery of the council’s internal communications and engagement strategy and digital communications. The successful candidate will have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject and/or the ability to show the knowledge, training and experience needed for the role, and a proven track record at a senior level in successfully managing a communications, public relations or public affairs function in a large, complex and fast-moving organisation. They will have extensive knowledge of the media industry and the issues facing local government, and the ability to spot novel and contentious issues and break down complex issues for public consumption. Fair leadership, presentational, influencing and analytical skills with highly developed writing skills are also essential.
