While around 90% of a wind turbine can be recycled, its composite blades remain a complex residual material. That is why, since 2025, we have been working with TNO and other partners through the CIRCLE4WIN project to develop a high-quality recycling solution for wind turbine blades. We are exploring solutions for the pre-treatment of wind turbine blades, further scaling up thermolysis recycling, and developing an industrial application so that recovered raw materials can be given a new life. The coming years will focus on further validation, product testing and life-cycle assessments. Large-scale implementation will take time, but the initial results show that high-quality recycling of wind turbine blades is moving closer.
