Late last year, we marked 2️⃣5️⃣ years since the UK’s first offshore wind farm began to generate clean power, paving the way for a major new industry which is now playing a central role in the UK’s transition to renewable energy. The offshore wind sector is at the heart of the development of a series of regional clusters, the rejuvination of coastal areas and driving of export opportunities. Formed as a result of the Offshore Wind 2019 Sector Deal, the UK's Offshore Wind Clusters showcase regional capabilities, knowledge and networks to provide valuable insights into the offshore sector. 🗺️ https://lnkd.in/epmuTK8g The Humber Offshore Wind Cluster is home to the successful Siemens Energy blade factory and installation port, which makes it a leading light in UK efforts to double blade capacity as well as grow the country's footprint in offshore wind installation. Meanwhile, on the south bank, the ports of Grimsby and Immingham play a leading role supporting the operation and maintenance of a wide range of wind farms, including mature assets served by CTVs and GW+ farms supplied by a fleet of SOVs. New wind farm growth in the North Sea and beyond provides future market opportunities for the region, with its capabilities aligning well to the national priority areas of Advanced Turbine Technology and Next-Generation Installation, Operations, and Maintenance. Check out our video on The Humber Offshore Wind Cluster and find out more about how it is shaping careers and inspiring a renewed heritage in the region 👇
