Today, the organization provides nutritious food to 1 in 6 residents in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, half of whom are children and seniors — a reminder that food insecurity remains an urgent challenge in our community. When I visited Second Harvest’s new home this spring, I saw firsthand how this transformational space will expand access to nutritious food, welcome more volunteers and strengthen future emergency response efforts.
