By the end of July, all EU Member States are supposed to have implemented the Right to Repair Directive into national law – but many countries are missing the deadline. ⚠️ That matters because the Right to Repair is one of the most important steps Europe has taken towards a more circular economy. The idea is simple: when products break, repairing them should be easier than replacing them. The directive aims to make that happen by: 🔧 Making repair services more accessible and transparent 🔧 Requiring manufacturers to provide spare parts and repair information 🔧 Introducing standardised repair information across the EU 🔧 Encouraging consumers to choose repair over replacement, even beyond the legal guarantee period The stakes are high. Every year in the EU, products that could often be repaired are thrown away too soon, generating an estimated 35 million tonnes of waste, wasting 30 million tonnes of resources and causing 261 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The Right to Repair alone will not solve this challenge, but it sends an important signal: products should be designed and supported to last longer. Now the focus shifts from legislation to implementation. Because a right only creates impact when people can actually use it. #RightToRepair #refurbed #refurbishedtech #SustainableTech #RethinkNew
