Searching for the Great Desert Skink - Tjakura, Tjalapa. The Healthy Living Program team has been working with local Kintore Rangers and Elders to help create materials for students which would identify this lizard which is only found in Walungurru. The Ranger Program is one of the many ways desert communities practice strengthening young people’s connection to Country, culture and their Elders. Being on country allows space for beautiful teamwork, leadership and confidence to grow through hands-on ranger activities. It also builds knowledge of the Great Desert Skink ecology and conservation and is another way Red Dust helps support social and emotional wellbeing through outdoor learning, movement and yarning.
