Two years of planning, eight elite athletes, one continuous line above Europe's highest mountain. Fred Fugen and Dani Román led an international team of wingsuit pilots to complete a world-first formation flight over Mont Blanc, covering 7.5 kilometres and approximately 3,800 metres of terrain flying from summit to landing. Flying at speeds of up to 200 km/h, the group remained in formation for more than three minutes, with the route including a split into two four-athlete groups before rejoining and landing together in the Chamonix Valley. “The goal of this project was to reunite a group of expert wingsuit pilots and to fly together above Mont Blanc, in Chamonix where I live, and to do some very technical flights together and achieve a world first. It has been a dream to get this kind of team together,” said Fred Fugen. For Dani Román, the achievement was equally about the people involved: “Definitely a jump like this, a world first over Mont Blanc, with this group of friends, is a once-in-a-lifetime, huge achievement for all of us. To describe the experience in a few words is pretty hard, but I can say it was beautiful, it was wild and it was very intense. Best jumps of my life.” The project combined elite performance, precision teamwork and a unique in-flight perspective, with camera flyers embedded within the formation to capture the entire sequence as one uninterrupted aerial line.
