What happens when a Tesla Model 3 hits a concrete barrier at 110 km/h? We put it to the test. In a full-scale EV crash test involving a 1,900 kg Tesla Model 3 and a 20-degree impact angle, the impact energy was 28% higher than in the EN 1317-2 TB32 test (which uses a 1,500 kg vehicle mass). The results? ✔ Barrier performed as intended ✔ No damage to the barrier ✔ Excellent vehicle behaviour ✔ Battery remained visually intact ✔ Even Tesla’s emergency call system remained active – and unexpectedly brought the police to the test site 😉 As the number of EVs on our roads continues to grow, road safety infrastructure must keep pace.
