There are often no words deep enough to convey the urgency and gravity of the human rights violations happening in the world today. And yet we try. The case of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya holds up a mirror to the unspeakable failings of the UK Government to hold Israel to account for its violations of international law. As set out by Kerry Moscogiuri “Dr Hussam Abu Safiya is being tortured to the brink of death by Israeli forces - for the crime of refusing to abandon his patients.” This is a man, a father, a doctor, who has said he expects to die in his arbitrary detention. More coverage needed by the UK press, more pressure needed from the UK Government. Over 800 health workers have written to the foreign secretary. Until Dr Hussam Abu Safiya is released, I would urge anyone to do what they can to raise the alarm about what is happening - share, write to your MP, contact press. Make you words matter. https://lnkd.in/e2ZqKDf2
