Managing Director, CIO North Asia
It was a profound honour to represent Standard Chartered Bank at the prestigious “China Banking Sector Gamma Award 2025” ceremony hosted by The Securities Times of the People’s Daily on 19 November. The occasion was significant as I had the singular privilege of being the only foreign bank representative in two roundtable discussions. This provided a valuable platform to articulate our global perspective on the transformation of China’s banking industry, specifically addressing the opportunities and challenges as mainland households progressively migrate funds from fixed deposits into wealth management products. It is with immense pride that our Chief Investment Office (CIO) was honoured with the “Outstanding Market Commentary/ Research” Gamma Award. This is a powerful validation of our relentless pursuit of excellence in providing forward looking views and timely analyses of key global developments throughout the year, not the least of which included China-US trade tensions. Our close partnership with the product teams has translated opportunistic ideas in equities and fixed income into actionable trade recommendations for clients, in addition to contributing alpha to our DPM products including CIO funds. While this awards bears the CIO team name, it truly belongs to the broader collective efforts of the Bank. This achievement would not have been possible without the wealth insight-led dedication of Team China, the integrated collaboration of our global and North Asia strategy colleagues, and the meticulous work of our translation team. This award is a true testament to the power of our “one Bank” ethos. Amidst a complex and evolving macro landscape, our Standard Chartered CIO team remains unwavering in our commitment to delivering thought-leading investment advice. We will strive to build on our achievement to enhance our clients‘ wealth journey with insightful recommendations and wealth solutions.
