From the classroom to the field: where theory meets practice. As part of the Integrated Water and Land Resources Management course, PhD students from the Energy and Environment Technology Program at Birzeit University conducted a field training tour to the Tubas Water Utility, including the Tayasir Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Safah Al-Jeezah Water Users Association in Tubas Governorate, Palestine. The visit provided valuable insights into wastewater treatment, reclaimed water reuse, and operational challenges, while inspiring applied research that advances the Water-Energy-Land-Food (WELF) Nexus and supports evidence-based, sustainable WASH services. 🎥 Watch the video below for a glimpse into the site visits, technical exchanges, and the collaborative spirit that made this journey so impactful. This experience wouldn’t have been possible without the steadfast support of the Dutch DUPC3 program, through the C3WASH Project, whose commitment to advancing research, education, and innovation continues to drive meaningful change in the water and sanitation sector. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the Tubas Water Utility—not only for facilitating these critical field visits but also for its warm hospitality and the depth of its technical engagement. Your partnership is a testament to the power of bridging academia and practice. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do: to learn, to connect, and to co-create solutions that matter. 💧 To our network, what is one field visit that changed your perspective on sustainable development?
