The electric grid is the largest machine humanity has ever built. And it is in crisis. I just finished this remarkable 4.5-hour deep dive from Ben Eidelson and Anay Shah of Stepchange Ventures, and it is one of the most comprehensive explorations of the grid I have come across. From the War of the Currents to the New Deal to today’s AI demand shock and affordability crisis, this episode earns every minute of its runtime. A few things that hit hard: The grid was never designed. It accumulated over 150 years of decisions made without foresight of the consequences we are living with today. We cannot build AI infrastructure, decarbonize our economy, or deliver affordable electricity without fundamentally rebuilding it. The opportunity in front of us is as large as the challenge. This is the terrain I think about every day in my work at the intersection of energy, technology, and transformation. Ben and Anay are building something important with Stepchange Ventures, and their ability to translate history into strategic clarity is rare. Thank you to my colleague Maria Martinez Braunfisch for passing this along. Great share. If you work in energy, infrastructure, or tech, this one is worth your weekend. https://lnkd.in/ei8hGY4N #GridIntelligence #EnergyTransformation #CleanEnergy #AIInfrastructure #GridModernization #EnergyTech #ClimateInvesting #Stepchange
