Deployable Project Scientist at the Met Office ⦿ DPhil Biology (Marine Ecology) at the University of Oxford
I can’t quite believe I finally get to say this, but yesterday I passed my DPhil (PhD) viva at the University of Oxford! The last 4 years have been surreal, getting the opportunity to do such amazing research with the support of the best supervisors and lab group members I could have ever asked for. All of the thanks in the world to Michelle Jackson, Lisa Wedding and James Orr are not enough, for all of their support and encouragement throughout. Thank you to my examiners Katrina Davis and Nessa O Connor for such a positive and insightful discussion, and I truly felt so humbled to have such a lovely conversation with people whose work I respect so much. I’ve had the opportunity throughout my doctorate to collaborate with such incredible people all across the world, and I’ll carry all of the lessons I’ve learned with me for the rest of my personal and professional life. I’m also equally excited for the next chapter of my career, soon to be working with the Deployable Project Scientists team at the Met Office! This is the best opportunity I could have asked for to contribute to such a diverse portfolio of scientific domains and applications, spanning weather and climate science, to international capacity building, research, and user-focussed applications.
