Today marks the 110 year anniversary of Charles Stewart Rolls' world's first non-stop double crossing (round trip from Dover to Sangatte and back on 2 June 1910) of the English Channel by aeroplane. Rolls challenged the limits of what was believed possible. He took technology and human ambition into wholly new territory. At 6.30 pm on 2 June 1910, exactly 110 years ago, the aviation pioneer took off alone in his flimsy biplane from Swingate aerodrome, near Dover. Thanks to such daring attempts, today Aviation is where it is, contributing 3.6% to the world GDP which by value is USD 2.6 Trillion, equating the GDP of Switzerland or Argentina. #rollsroyce #aviationindustry #aviation #inspiringgreatness
