Performed crossing in Spider lily(Hymenocallis littoralis). With chromosome number 2n=46, family Amaryllidaceae (Amaryllis family), this crop is a major commercial Floriculture crop of South Gujarat. It is a perennial, quite hardy crop and bears the most in monsoon but not commercially harvested at that time. It is a popular loose flower and sees high price fluctuations in the market. From ₹40 per 1000 buds in off season time to upto ₹800 per 1000 buds during festive season like Diwali and Navaratri. There are no named varieties till now, but Navsari Agricultural University is working on it. Lily caterpillar is a prominent pest of this crop.
