The end of Soft Power Global Power #Germany - our analysis of the reasons for Berlin's defeat as a candidate for the UN Security Council #UNSC looks at a fundamental dimension and has been kindly shared as an opinion piece by Berlin.Table media this morning: Germany has past years seen an erosion of its reputation as an honest broker, defender of #humanrights and international law #IHL, principled #aid supplier, #peace investor and respected donor. Its approach to invest for obvious reasons in re-establishing long term its hard power (military, economy) at the expense of slashed budgets and its so far respected soft power (#peace, prevention, cultural exchange, #development and #humanitarian aid etc) has left Germany with losing reputation, influence and power overall. But a rights and rules based German foreign policy approach is globally more needed than ever - so Berlin needs and can change course after this historic defeat. But please read yourself and feedback more than welcome: https://lnkd.in/d_4PH_Ar VENRO Åsa Månsson Dr. Oliver Müller Martin Kessler Christof Johnen Jan Sebastian Friedrich-Rust Philipp Rotmann Gerrit Kurtz Volker Perthes #christophheusgen Karina Lehmann Florian Westphal Lena G.
