One of the biggest myths about regenerative agriculture? That it comes at the cost of productivity. Last week, Rainforest Alliance Director Yuri Feres was on the ground in Monte Carmelo, Brazil, for the 3rd Journey: The Market, Carbon, and Regenerative Coffee, an event hosted by monteCCer in the heart of the Cerrado Mineiro coffee region. Speaking on the panel "What is regenerative coffee farming, really?", Yuri addressed that myth head on: "Right from the start, I want to demystify the idea that regenerative agriculture leads to reduced productivity. The greater the complexity and commitment of farms to regenerative agriculture, the greater the productivity." He also highlighted something equally important: the farmers leading this transition deserve to be recognized and rewarded for it. "The farmer involved in regenerative agriculture must be compensated. To make that possible, we need to consolidate data, with soil as the main indicator." The Cerrado Mineiro region, Yuri noted, is more than ready to move fast on the regenerative transition. And conversations like this one are exactly how that momentum builds. 🌱☕ #RegenerativeAgriculture #Coffee #Brazil #CerradoMineiro #RainforestAlliance #RegenerativeCoffee #Sustainability
