We are proud to have played a major role in the Vantris Energy Berhad (formerly Sapura Energy Berhad) restructuring, which was recognised as Restructuring Deal of the Year at the recent Islamic Finance News (IFN) Law Awards in Kuala Lumpur.   Led by our Managing Partner, Azman bin Othman Luk, our team advised the Vantris Group on their recent debt restructuring, which included a RM7.55 billion Islamic financing component. This involved a mix of convertible securities and Sukuk as part of a RM12 billion composite scheme of arrangement involving 23 group entities.   Given the scale of the debt restructuring and the number of domestic and foreign stakeholders involved, this remains one of the most complex distressed restructurings in Malaysia to date.
