Today we want to recognise the radical freedom fighters who inspire us everyday. We want to extend solidarity and warmth to all those working to end gender oppression. In celebration of #IWD here are 6 women who’s activism, though sometimes forgotten deserve to be spoken about. Swipe ⬅️ to learn more. 1️⃣Olive Morris co-founder of the Organisation of Women of African and Asian Descent (OWAAD) and the Brixton Black Women’s Group. 2️⃣Gail Lewis, sociologist and long standing member of Brixton Black Women’s Group and OWAAD. 3️⃣ Barbara Beese, key member of the British Black Panthers, part of the activists known as the Mangrove Nine. 4️⃣Haifa Zangana, Iraqi activist and author of numerous books. 5️⃣Altheia Jones-LeCointe, leading figure of the British Black Panthers and part of the Mangrove Nine. 6️⃣Amrit Wilson is an activist and writer, founding member of the South Asian Solidarity Group. #womensday #internationalwomensday
