We just concluded the *98th* run of the annual Soil Management and Land Valuation Conference (#SMLV), the longest-running conference at Iowa State University! A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional speakers who shared invaluable insights on various topics, including: - Policy and the economy (Steve Elmore, Corteva Agriscience) - #AI integration in agriculture (James Koltes, ISU) - Navigating farm financial stress (Pete Burmeister, Farm Credit Services of America & Jeff Burgus, Mediapolis Savings Bank) - Livestock opportunities and the new Daisy plant in Iowa (Dan Culhane, Ames Regional Economic Alliance) - Water supply and aquifers (Keith Schilling, Iowa Geological Survey) - Soil health, conservation, and soil tests (Carolyn King, Continuum Ag & Jeremy Hollingsworth, USDA-NRCS) - Changes and updates in Ag Law (Kristine Tidgren, ISU Center for Ag Law and Taxation) - Crop markets outlook (Chad Hart, ISU) Also, a thank you to our attendees who continue to attend year after year, I learn from them as much as they do at our conference. Being an academic, it is always energizing and informative to be surrounded by on-the-ground professionals like who are in tune with the pulse of our ag economy. Last but not the least, this event would not have been possible without our dedicated board: Jim Jensen (recently retired from JENSEN & JENNINGS LLC), Dick Isaacson (Growthland), Clint Kaller (Hertz Farm Management), and Jeannie Fetrow (Farm Credit Services of America).
