💧Presenting our next generation of hydrographers! Six of our colleagues recently completed their traineeships as Water Officers (Hydrographers). Congratulations to Seith Cochrane, Ethan Waters, Kris Watts, Kiet Jeha, Dylan Smith, and Isaac Davison for earning their Diploma of Water Industry Operations (Hydrometric Monitoring)!🎉 Over the past two years, they’ve travelled across Queensland learning how to collect and analyse water data, including measuring river levels, streamflow, and rainfall, and maintaining gauging stations. Their work supports flood monitoring, water planning, and environmental management. As graduate Seith Cochrane explains: "Hydrography plays a critical role in keeping Queensland communities safe. The data we collect supports flood warnings, water management decisions, and emergency planning." Our water monitoring teams operate more than 400 remote stream gauges and thousands of monitoring bores, travelling over 500,000km a year to visit more than 15,000 monitoring sites. These new hydrographers are ready to make their mark in this critical field. 🌟 🧪 Looking for a role in hydrography or other science fields?
