Plot twist: one of the most powerful literacy tools this term doesn't involve a screen. šŸ“– The 2026 Premier's Reading Challenge starts 11 May, inviting young Queenslanders from Prep to Year 9 are invited to dive in. It's not a competition — it's a chance for students to build confidence, spark curiosity, and fall in love with stories. The kind of reading habit that shows up in every classroom, across every subject. šŸ’› Here's what the Challenge looks like by year level: šŸ”¹ Prep to Year 2: read or experience 20 books šŸ”¹ Years 3 to 4: read 20 books šŸ”¹ Years 5 to 9: read 15 books Every child who finishes earns a Certificate of Achievement šŸ… Even the youngest readers can take part through their early childhood centre.
