From the mine site to the mind 🪨🧠 Before studying neuroscience, Richard Ronayne was a FIFO worker in the mines. Richard knew he needed a career change. His interest in psychology and a “burning curiosity” led him to building an EEG cap at home. That passion and ingenuity caught Professor Jason Mattingley's attention, changing the course of Richard’s life. Today, Richard researches in the Mattingley Lab at QBI, studying how the brain gives rise to perception, cognition and movement, and how these processes are affected by disease. His story is a powerful reminder that careers aren’t always linear—and that curiosity, courage and perseverance can open doors to places, people, and adventures you never imagined. 🎥 Watch Richard’s story #UQ #QBI #neuroscience #sciencecareers #EEG #cognitive #brainresearch #PhDstudent UQ Science UQ Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences
