QH "WOMEN IN THE ARTS" SERIES – SOCA ARTISTE/ACTRESS SHIVONNE CHURCHE "LIL BITS" Born on October 31st, Shivonne Liesl-Anne Churche also known to the music world as Lil’ Bitts was named after Liesl the oldest girl in the Sound of Music. She attended Sacred Heart Girls’ RC School and Woodbrook Government Secondary where during that period she participated in many calypso and soca competitions where she won and was also a finalist. At age 17 she made the conversion from calypso to soca with her then manager and mother Emerita Sambrano-Churche and immediately entered the Junior Soca Monarch Competition and was a finalist. In 2004 she made her first break through performing a song called “In My Country” featuring Bunji Garlin written by them both. As the years went by she added more hits to her name. “Crush” feat Sean Caruth, “Bump” one of her biggest songs to date both of which were both written by Kernal Roberts. “Crush” enabled her to make her first debut into the International Groovy Monarch Competition finals. It was followed by “Esta Fiesta” written by Lil’ Bitts which also awarded her the Soca Parang Groovy winner that year. As the years progressed she added “Hold Meh” and “Careful” both which were written by her brother Sherrard Churche. She successfully made it to the International Groovy Soca Monarch Competition once again with Careful. In 2011 she had an amazing season on the Honey Riddim with Sweetness. 2013 she made it to the finals of the International Soca Monarch competition once again in the power category. In 2014 she made bold moves by changing her writers, producers and even management and joined the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NTAC) as an actress. In 2015 realizing she needed some assistance with her new independence she teamed up with the advertising company Metropolis Media House and Isaacs Promotions to launch a campaign creating a whole new image, sound and logo which has been very successful thus far and she released two tracks Burning Up & Booty Bounce produced by Advokit Productions and Precision Productions. Between 2016- 2018 she released a song “WORK” with writer/producer Jason Shaft Bishop. The track was produced by Red Boyz out of Barbados. She then teamed up with Anson Soverall and Precision Productions to produce the track “Automatic” and also wrote a song on the Bull Riddim called Demonstrate. Adding costume designer to her portfolio, she designed her first section for the mas band Paparazzi in 2018. For the 2019 carnival season she released a song called GOOD TIMES, which she wrote with Kit Israel and produced both by Mega Mick and Advokit Productions and also launched another section with Ronnie and Caro. For 2020 she teamed up with Farmer Nappy on a beautiful love song called CO-SIGN produced by Lunatix and Advokit Productions and written by Kit Israel which is another hit song added to her belt getting rave reviews not only in Trinidad and Tobago but worldwide.
