Clean, safe drinking water is critical for Queensland communities and our department is proud to be helping to build a resilient water future for all. In Woorabinda, where the community has experienced ongoing challenges with water shortages, quality issues, and a high risk of supply failure, we’re delivering critical upgrades to improve their water infrastructure and provide safe and reliable drinking water. Our Engineering and Project Services team, including Renee and Anushia, have been on the ground, overseeing works that are part of the Australian Government’s Closing the Gap commitment to improve water security in First Nations communities. The project includes upgrades to the water treatment plant and raw water infrastructure to improve drinking water supply reliability, as well as a new water treatment plant. This project is funded by the Australian Government, through the #NationalWaterGrid Fund, and Queensland Government, delivered in partnership with Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council.
