Emergency volunteers will now reach disaster-affected communities faster, delivering critical support when it’s needed most. 🚧 For the first time, Volunteering Queensland’s spontaneous disaster recovery volunteers will be automatically covered under a new annual WorkCover Queensland contract. This change means they have immediate personal injury insurance coverage whenever they’re activated during a declared disaster, eliminating delays caused by case-by-case arrangements. We’re proud to have partnered with Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety team to make this happen. Volunteers will be able to be mobilised quicker and safer to help communities in their time of need. Volunteers play a vital role in Queensland’s disaster recovery efforts and supporting them with this streamlined process allows them to focus on what they do best, helping Queenslanders.
