Head Boy @SMCS

Meet Faisal Shahnawaz: Deputy Head Boy & President of the Music Society ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽป Widely known around school as โ€œFaisal Pepsi,โ€ Faisal is someone whose presence and personality naturally leave an impression. One of the things I respect most about Faisal is that our journey as friends was never separate from our journey as competitors. Despite being close friends, we stood against each other in the Head Boy elections, fully aware of the boundaries that come with competition. Yet throughout the process, Faisal carried himself with grit, courage, and maturity, proving that rivalry and respect can exist side by side. Serving alongside Faisal showed me another side of his character. While many knew him for having almost no presence within the student body, few saw the amount of work he was putting into leading the Music Society. Behind the scenes, he was entirely committed to helping it grow, and his passion for it was evident in everything he did. Beyond leadership, one thing that always connected us was our shared passion for filmmaking. From directors like Satyajit Ray to newer independent voices like Sean Baker, countless conversations between us revolved around cinema, storytelling, and the dream of someday bringing our own ideas to life โ€” even if both of us are still figuring out how to actually get it done. Faisal is someone who carries ambition quietly. He may not always be the loudest person in the room, but his determination, creativity, and resilience speak for themselves. It has been an honour competing with him, working alongside him, and calling him a friend. Syed Faisal Shahnawaz
